>>22/12/08 - Heanor look forward to Ilkeston clash
HTFC tomorrow face local rivals Ilkeston Town in the Derbyshire Senior Cup fixture at the town ground. In the absence of first team manager Jamie Bennett and Jody Caudwell and due to the unavailability of assistant Franks, Matt Timson and Robbie Mawer take the helm over the Christmas period. Bennett who is working away in the USA commented "I'm very disappointed at the backlog of fixtures over the Christmas period having only played one game in the month of December. Players and managers put a lot of hard work in to this and others need to take some responsibility. I know Robbie and Matt will keep to our targets and the fun on Tuesday night needs to be followed by a good league performance in a must win match versus GSP FC.
 
>>07/12/08 - Heanor vs Radford Match Report
Missed chances cost Heanor three points today as they went down 4-3 at home to Radford. A poor start to the game cost Heanor dearly as they conceeded 2 early goals before Matt Timson struck back, twisting around two defenders before dispatching home cooly into the bottom left corner making it 2-1. Radford then struck again which looked to seal the outcome but Heanor had other ideas. Goals from Paddy Sneath (Pen) and another from the in-form Matt Timson after good work from Robbie Mawer down the wing. Unfortunately Heanor's delight was short lived after a lapse in concentration caused them to conceed a soft goal which proved to be the only difference between the two sides in a very exciting game.

Heanor Town continued there fine run of home form with a win over Holwell Sports at the town ground. Heanor again started brightly and both teams played some great football in an entertaining first half. Holwell were first to threaten with a floated ball to the far post which was volleyed against the post by a Holwell midfielder. Heanor struck back with a flowing move which resulted in a Biggs cross being headed against the upright by Liam Garner. The turning point in the game came midway through the first half a coming together in the box between Aidy Hawes and the Holwell striker resulted in the referee pointing to the spot. The decision looked harsh but Dan Fenton saved the resulting penalty and the home crowd erupted. Heanor went close on a couple of times as this kick started them into life. The only goal of the game came on 40 minutes, Graham wells picked the ball up on the half way line and his pace took him past two defenders. The striker then let fly from 30 yards and the ball flew into the top corner of the goal leaving the keeper no chance. The celebrations proving extra special as the ex Holwell player had been goaded by the away support all afternoon. The second half saw another resolute Heanor defensive display as the home side were kicked from pillar to post as the Holwell players imposed there physical advantage. In the end the work rate and team work of the Heanor squad gave them there fifth league win of the season and a sense of optimism amongst the home support as the lions took their third top five scalp.
 
>>24/11/08 - Heanor draw Ilkeston in Derbyshire Senior Cup
Heanor have drawn ilkeston Town in the Derbyshire Senior Cup at home. The fixture will be played on Wednesday December 17th at 7.45pm at the Town Ground.
 
>>20/11/08 - Heanor vs Blackwell - Cup - 2-1 (W)
Heanor left it late against a stubborn Blackwell side at the town ground in the second round of the Derbyshire Senior cup. Manager Jamie Bennett made full use of his strong squad three changes to the team that started against SL Corby. A debut for Mike Leslie at right back, Ricky Benwell starting in centre midfield and Graham Wells restored in attack. The Game started fast with a number of chances falling to Heanor but thay were made to rue their misses when Blackwell took the lead against the run of play just before half time. The second half saw Blackwell defend well and frustrate the Lions but with six minutes to play Liam Garner volleyed the lions level from just inside the 18 yard box. This forced extra time and the Lions continued to dominate as their superior fitness began to tell. Great work down the left by Mawer and Wells saw Liam Garner finish from close range and book the lions in the third round draw.
 
>>15/11/08 - FA Vase Defeat - 5-1 (L)
Sadly, Heanor's FA Vase Campaign ended today away at the hands of Stewarts & Lloyds Corby. The side who play a step higher than the Lions in the football pyramid scored 5 times in a comprehensive performance. There clean sheet was only prevented by a strike from Graham Wells. First team coach Jody Caudwell said: 'We now need to put this game behind us and focus on what's ahead in the league trying to build on the run of form that we've had recently. Of course we're disappointed but that's part of football, we just need to concentrate on the upcoming fixtures and learn from what went wrong today."
 
>>14/11/08 - Dave Marlow returns to the Lions' Den
Instrumental midfielder Dave Marlow has rejoined the Lions after beginning the season with Hucknall Town. Manager Jamie Bennett said 'Dave has been unlucky with the change in management at Hucknall. However, their loss is our gain. Dave is a quality player and the boys love him at the club." Bennett has also been quick to snap up former Alfreton and Notts County trainee Micheal Leslie. The player has moved back to England after playing in the professional game in Australia. Bennett commented 'These two will add strength to the squad and help us make a push up the league table!' Dave will hopefully be giving an interview on HTTV later this week about his move back to the Lions.
 
>>13/11/08 - Heanor vs Stewarts & Lloyds Corby(A)
Heanor town play their biggest game of the season so far this coming Saturday in the second round of the FA Vase. Opponents Stewarts and Lloyds corby play a step higher than the Lions but the club are hoping to continue there great run in the competition this season. Heanor will be without the injured Dean Randall but will have new signings Dave Marlow and Michael Leslie available. The club is urging supporters to make the trip to corby and support the Lions.
 
>>09/11/08 - Heanor 2 - Borrowash Victoria 0 (A)
Heanor Town were the first side to defeat Borrowash Victoria in the EMCL this season. Vics had the better of the first half with Dan Fenton making a fine save in the first five minutes from a powerfull header in the six yard box. Heanor defended suberbly with Hawes and Sneath at the heart of the defence. Matt Timson had a chance to give the Lions a half time lead but put the ball wide after a mix up in the Borrawash defence left the goal gaping. The scores were level at half time but a great Heanor performance in the second half saw them take the lead. Biggs crossed for Garner who made no mistake from 6 yards. The next goal was vital with the game end to end and heanor put the home fans nerves at rest when Garner rose to convert a great delivery from Mawer with ten minutes remaining. Heanor go into the FA base next week with increased optimism after taking the scalp of the league leaders. A great team performance with special praise for the suberb defending and work rate of the entire squad.

HTFC continued there run of recent form with a fiercly contested victory over Nottingham side Radford at the weekend. The result sees the team progress further up the table and take another step closer to the afety of mid-table.

Manager Jamie Bennett has today praised player Liam Garner's form this season. "Liam has delivered a number of fantastic performances this season and has been a real example to the rest of the lads of what we expect from our players. We're thrilled that Liam's with us again this season and look forward to seeing what else he has to give this year."

The long awaited new HTFC changing rooms have now opened. The new facility was opened last week in the presence of a number of local councillors as well as officals from the Central Midlands League and the UK Football Foundation. 'This is just another step of the continued development we have ongoing here at the club. We'd like to thank all those people that have supported us this far specifically with this phase of the development." said Ben Marshall, Commercial Director.

"We are currently in discussing the option of launching a new youth policy a HTFC with a number of parties though at this stage, nothing has been decided and we are still looking into the many different avenues available to us. As a club we recognise the importance of a good youth system and are commited to implementing a system that benefits the club, the players it serves and English football on the whole."

"We're delighted with the new talent that we've bought in this season. We're still looking to strengthen the squad but believe that we now have the foundations of a superb football side. Carl's joined us from Hucknall's Rolls Royce side and the width that he's bought to the side has proven invaluable so far.
